BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Off the heels of back-to-back wins and the best shooting performance of this career, Tennessee Tech men's basketball point guard Jr. Clay was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week Tuesday, the first such honor of his career.

While helping lead the Golden Eagles to victories over in-state rival Austin Peay and longtime league foe Murray State, Clay averaged 25.5 points, 6.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. The Chattanooga native shot 52.9 percent from the floor and an eye-popping 62.5 percent from deep, hitting 10 of the 16 shots he took from distance. He also sank 5-of-6 attempts from the charity stripe.

In the contest against the Govs, Clay erupted for a career-high 31 points, including 25 in the second half alone. Willing his team to an 81-76 win, he drained each of the final six shots from the field he took, as well as two clutch free throws in the closing seconds to ice the game.

On the night he drilled a career-high six 3-pointers on eight attempts, and 11-of-17 total shots from the floor. He also contributed six assists, two blocks and three steals. Two days later, Clay helped the Golden Eagles snap a six-game skid against the Racers, scoring a team-high 20 points with four more triples and six more assists.
