JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – A tough night on the offensive side of the floor for the Tennessee Tech men's basketball team was accentuated by a strong performance shooting the ball from Ohio Valley Conference rival Jacksonville State Wednesday.

The Gamecocks defeated the Golden Eagles, 74-50, in Pete Mathews Coliseum, using a 52.6 percent showing from the field to build as large as an insurmountable lead in the two team's rematch from Sunday's contest. Tech struggled to get its footing early, finishing the night at just 33.3 percent from the floor.

Jax State's Kayne Henry nearly single-handedly took over the contest during a three-minute stretch that seemed to take the air out of the Golden Eagles' sails. With the visiting purple and gold trailing 21-10 with just over 11 minutes in the first half, the Gamecock senior hit a trio of 3-pointers in under 120 seconds.

Joined by five more points from his teammates, Jacksonville State turned in a 14-0 run to take command and cruise into the break with a 46-20 lead. The Golden Eagles continued to battle and, thanks to a 12-2 run over the final three minutes, outscored the Gamecocks to win the second half, 30-28.

Freshman forward Kenny White Jr. led the Tech attack on the night, scoring a team-high 12 points off the bench with a 4-for-8 showing from the floor. He added two assists and a pair of rebounds to the mix. Sophomore Tujautae Williams also scored in double figures, chipping in 10 points off the bench while corralling three boards.

Tech will head back to non-conference play Friday evening, making the trip down I-40 to take on No. 10 Tennessee at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. Tip is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT with the game set to be aired on SEC Network+.
