NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Bailey Fisher was off to a quick start on Saturday against Eastern Illinois, leading the Tennessee Tech football team to a touchdown on its opening drive at Tucker Stadium.

But by the time the game was over, Fisher found himself in the record book, putting together one of the top passing performances in program history.

Fisher was selected Tuesday as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's Offensive Player of the Week.

He completed 27-of-41 passes for 383 yards and four touchdowns against the visiting Panthers in the Ohio Valley Conference contest. Even more impressive was that 243 yards and three touchdowns came in the fourth quarter as the Rabun County (Ga.) product tried to engineer a rally in the waning moments of the game.

The 383 yards is the fifth-best single-game passing goal in school history and the most by a true freshman.

Only Tre Lamb (481, 2012 vs. Southeast Missouri), Lee Sweeney (437, 2006 vs. Southeast Missouri), Grant Swallows (412, 2001 vs. Jacksonville State) and Robert Craft (410, 2002 vs. Jacksonville State) have thrown more in a single game for the Golden Eagles.

Fisher has thrown for 836 yards and six touchdowns this season, completing 72 of his 138 passes.

Tech returns to action this week as it hosts Southeast Missouri on Saturday, starting at 6 p.m.
