COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Whether it's raining, snowing, overcast or sunny, the Tennessee Tech football team is doing the best they can to keep plugging away in their spring practice slate.

Thursday's effort sent the Golden Eagles into the Athletic Performance Center early in the morning as the team split time in the facility. The defense worked first on the indoor turf, then gave way to the offense for the second half of the session.

With the rain expected in the forecast, head coach Dewayne Alexander has cancelled Friday's session, with the team picking back up following the Easter holiday.

Either way, trying to find ways to practice during a traditionally uncertain Tennessee spring is no easy task.

"We've had everything from snow, we've practiced in frost, in the mud and rain," Alexander said. "It's part of it. You get used to being in the elements. Today we practiced inside, and so far our players and coaches' attitudes have been outstanding."

The APC may not be able to contain the entire football team in one session, but there were still ample opportunities for every player to learn and grow through the course of the practice.

"This really came at a good time today," Alexander said. "We had a 40-play scrimmage after Tuesday's practice. We had a lot of tape to watch, a lot of corrections to make from that scrimmage. We're still putting in a lot of things and teaching a lot of fundamentals. What you saw in here today, there was a lot of teaching, slowing things down and going through things and install some things that we want to take a look at."

Practice will continue on Tuesday at Sherlock Park, weather permitting. All practices are open to the public.
