COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – They're two of the most important days of the college football season. One is for the families of Tech students to come visit campus, the other brings the alumni back to campus.
But the message is always the same – bringing everyone together.
For the 2018 schedule, those two days are set: the Golden Eagles have selected the Sept. 29 contest for Family Weekend, while the Nov. 3 game against Murray State will be the 2018 Homecoming game.
"These two events are among the highlights of any college football season," said Tech director of athletics Mark Wilson. "Both days have a similar thread in bringing our students, their families, our alumni, our campus community and our Cookeville community together. These are two of the best days of the fall and we want to see everyone taking part in the festivities."
Additional events throughout the 2018 season will be announced at a later date.
With Family Weekend, the university will hold many events throughout campus, including Tech's game against Eastern Illinois that evening at 6 p.m. in Tucker Stadium.
The Golden Eagles will host their 88th annual Homecoming game on Nov. 3 against the Racers, slated for a 1:30 p.m. start from Tucker Stadium.
Tech is 46-40-1 all-time in Homecoming games, including 7-5 against Murray State. The Golden Eagles faced the Racers for Homecoming in 1936 (L, 47-0), 1957 (W, 26-14), 1959 (W, 29-16), 1961 (W, 27-8), 1963 (L, 28-27), 1991 (W, 45-7), 1993 (W, 31-16), 1995 (L, 45-14), 1997 (W, 16-13 OT), 1999 (L, 22-11), 2001 (W, 15-12) and 2011 (L, 38-37).
