Tennessee Tech looking to make it 10 in a row as it heads to Murray State

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With a two-game edge over its nearest opponent in the Ohio Valley Conference, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team will look continue its drive for an OVC title as it takes on the Murray State Racers. 

This will be the 70th meeting between the Golden Eagles and Murray State, with TTU owning the series edge at 56-13. Tech is currently riding a nine-game winning streak, which began Jan. 8 against Eastern Kentucky. In their previous meeting this season the Golden Eagles dealt the Racers a 77-61 loss at Eblen Center.
 
Freshman forward Molly Heady posted her first career double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, while junior guard Tacarra Hayes added a team-high 15 points.
 
Tech (18-4, 12-1 OVC) is off to its best start since the 1989-90 season when it started the year 19-3. Its nine-game winning streak is also the longest since the 2000-01 season when it put together an 18-game winning streak.
 
Murray State is 6-17 on the season and is in last place in the OVC with a 2-10 conference record. The Racers have dropped their last five decisions, including a pair of road losses to Tennessee State and Austin Peay.
 
Opening tip between the Golden Eagles and the Racers is set for 5:15 p.m., at the CFSB Center.
