COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With four games and four wins in the books on the young 2010-11 season, the Tennessee Tech women's cagers will look to improve to 5-0 for the first time since the 1984-85 season as they host the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee Wednesday night in Eblen Center.

"It's going to be a big game against Middle Tennessee," head coach Sytia Messer said. "Last year they got us good at their place, but we're excited to get them in here to even it up."

With their recent 75-42 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan, the Golden Eagles have started their 2010-11 season 4-0. The last time Tech began a season 4-0 was in the 1992-93 season.

Against the Lady Bulldogs, four Golden Eagles recorded double-digits in points with junior center Brittany Darling leading the way with 12. Darling also posted a game-high eight rebounds.

Of Tech's 75 points, 48 came from five TTU newcomers. Along with Darling's 12 points, freshman Briana Jordan posted 11 points, freshman Molly Heady recorded 10 points, and freshmen Candace Parson and Keisha Moore tallied eight and seven points, respectively.

Middle Tennessee comes to Eblen Center owner of a 4-1 record with wins over East Tennessee, South Dakota State, South Florida and OVC rival Austin Peay. The Blue Raiders' lone loss came against Messer's alma mater, Arkansas.

"They've played some tough opponents this year," Messer said. "It should be a good game. Both teams are really different from last season."

Tennessee Tech owns a 50-36 all-time record against MTSU, but recently the Blue Raiders have held the advantage as they have won their last five meetings against the Golden Eagles, including a 76-39 win last season in Murfreesboro.

Opening tip is scheduled for 8 p.m., following the men's game against SIU Edwardsville at 6 p.m.

It is White County Night at Eblen Center. Residents of neighboring White County may purchase tickets for one dollar each.
