COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Student-athletes of Tennessee
Tech’s 14 athletic teams will participate in the Ohio Valley
Conference SAAC initiative "Hoops for Heroes" this Thursday and
Saturday at the basketball doubleheaders in Eblen Center against
Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State.
The "Hoops for Heroes" initiative will benefit veterans in the
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).The WWP is a non-profit, non-partisan
organization whose goal is to help injured service men and women of
the US armed forces.
The goal of this project is for each OVC school to raise money to send a wounded military veteran to the OVC basketball championship, March 2-5, so they can escape everyday life, enjoy a relaxing weekend, and be honored for their service to our country.

Headed by the TTU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC),
various Golden Eagle student-athletes will greet fans at the doors
of Eblen Center, as well as walk around the sections to raise money
for this effort during all four Tech basketball games this
week.
Opening tips for both women’s and men’s games are
set for 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
For Military Appreciation Night Thursday, all members of the military and their families are invited to attend the games against Eastern Kentucky. Military personnel, both active and retired, receive free admission to the game by showing their military ID.
