Five Golden Eagles had double figure scoring performances as Tech rallied back from a 14-point, second half deficit, but TTU couldn’t pull through with the win on Saturday at home. Junior Zach Bailey and sophomore Jud Dillard both led the team with 15 points apiece while sophomore transfer Matt Marseille added 10, junior Kevin Murphy notched 11 and freshman Chase Dunn had 12.

Tech held the lead over the Bisons until just under seven minutes left in the first half, stretching their lead to as many as seven points despite Lipscomb’s Jordan Burgason netting 21 first-half points. But a 10-6 run to finish out the half left the Golden Eagles down by six at the break.

Marseille, who made his first career start Saturday against the Bisons, led Tech in the first half with seven points. Dennis Ogbe, a freshman out of Germany, also saw his first career start and scored five points and grabbed four rebounds in the first half. On the game, Ogbe netted nine and led the team in rebounds with seven total.

In the second half, Tech dominated the Bisons in just about every category, scoring 24 points in the paint to Lipscomb’s 22, 23 points off of the Bisons’ 24 turnovers, 12 second chance points and 26 bench points. Lipscomb, however, shot 79.2 percent from the field in the second half, stretching their lead to 11 just two minutes into the second half, and notching their largest lead of the game, 15 points, with just over 13 minutes left to play.

Burgason finished with 28 points on the night, while two other Bisons saw 20-point games. Josh Slater finished with 21, and Adnan Hodzic logged 23.

“It was certainly an entertaining ball game from an offensive point of view,” said Tech head coach Mike Sutton. “We played hard but just came up a few points short - a rebound here and a few made plays there would have made all the difference.

“You just have to make a few extra plays to beat an experienced team,” Sutton continued. “We knew they were a good team offensively, and that we would have to play at our best to keep with them.”

The Golden Eagles will face Hiwassee College in an added game on December 16 at Livingston Academy at 7:00 p.m.
