COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With a three-game winning streak and control of first place in a tight Ohio Valley Conference race, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team begins its longest road trip of the season as it takes on a quartet of OVC rivals beginning with Austin Peay Thursday night.
This will be the 74th meeting between the Golden Eagles and
the Lady Govs, with TTU owning the series edge at 68-15. Over the
last two seasons, Tech is 2-2 against Austin Peay with each team
winning both of its home contests.
Tech (12-4, 6-1 OVC) recently won its sixth OVC contest of the
season with a 77-61 victory over Murray State last Saturday. The
win gave the Golden Eagles sole possession of first place in the
OVC. Junior guard Tacarra Hayes
recorded a team-high 15 points, while freshman forward Molly Heady posted
her first career double-double with 10 points and 12
rebounds.
Austin Peay currently a 6-13 record and is currently tied with
Eastern Illinois and UT Martin for third place in the OVC with a
5-2 conference record. The Lady Govs are on a two-game winning
streak with a pair of conference wins against Tennessee State and
Murray State
Opening tip between the Golden Eagles and the Lady Govs is set
for 8:15 p.m., the second of a doubleheader, at Dunn Center in
Clarksville, Tenn.
