SUNSET BEACH, N.C. – Tennessee Tech found plenty of
trouble Sunday in the final round of the Sea Trail Invitational and
the Golden Eagles lost the ground they had gained Saturday,
slipping to 16th place in the final team standings.
Joshua Simer and Jared Dunn posted the team’s best scores on
the final day, each shooting 74 while Jake Heatherly wrapped up
with a 75. Simer, a senior from Bolivar, was Tech’s top
individual finisher, scoring a 222 to place in a tie for 43rd. Wes
Korth, a senior from Cookeville and Tech’s leader after each
of the first two rounds, closed the tourney with a final round 80
and tied for 48th place at 223.
Dunn, also a senior from Cookeville, was one shot back at 224, tied
for 55th, followed by Heatherly and Travis Ramsey, who were tied
for 80th place at 232.
Stetson cruised to the team title with an 841, five shots better
than Wofford (846). James Madison (859) was third, followed by
Campbell (861) and Belmont Abbey (863) in the Top Five.
The Golden Eagle fall schedule continues on Oct. 5-6 when Tech
plays at the Murray State Invitational.
