Tech in third place, two Golden Eagles tied for fifth

FLORENCE, Ala. -- Seniors Blake Garrison and Josh Simer each posted scores  of 74 Monday in the first round of the University of North Alabama Spring Classic and are tied for fifth place individually, helping Tennessee Tech grab third place among 20 teams in the field heading into Tuesday's wrap up.

Tech shot a team total 306 Monday. Host North Alabama's 298 leads the tournament with Delta State in second place at 303. Following Tech by one stroke are Indianapolis and Lindenwood, tied for fourth at 307.

Three players from three different teams are tied for the individual lead at even-par 72, while Garrison and Simer are in a grouping of four players tied at 74.

Jake Heatherly is next on the leaderboard for Tech, tied for 28th place after shooting a 78 Monday. Also in the lineup for Tech, Travis Ramsey is in 48th place with an 80 and Wes Korth is in 77th place with an 83.
