Miles tabbed College Sports Madness OVC Player of the Week

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – There are many reasons why the Tennessee Tech baseball team ranks in the top five of the NCAA in several offensive categories this season while posting a 17-4 record through the first 21 games of the year.

One of the main reasons has been the play of senior third baseman Daniel Miles, who garnered College Sports Madness Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week. The corner infielder put together an incredible five-game span last week, leading the Golden Eagles to a 4-1 mark with a .556 batting average. He collected 15 hits, including a staggering six extra-base knocks, to slug .963 in 27 at bats.

Miles hammered two home runs, a triple, and three doubles while driving in eight runs and scoring 11 more himself. He managed an on-base percentage of .586 and recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage at the hot corner.

On the year, the senior from Pascagoula, Miss. leads the Golden Eagles with a .420 batting average, having connected for 37 hits in 88 at bats. Miles is tops in the OVC in both hits and runs scored (32), as well as ranking in the top five in on-base percentage (.519), slugging percentage (.670), RBI (22), home runs (5), total bases (59), and walks (16).
