Golden Eagles set for home-opening weekend against Eastern Illinois

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech volleyball team kicks off its home-opener Sunday, playing host to Eastern Illinois in a doubleheader in the Hooper Eblen Center.

The first contest is set for an 11:00 a.m. CT start while match two will commence at 6:00 p.m. Due to impending inclement weather in the Cookeville and Charleston, Ill. areas, Monday's originally scheduled match between the Golden Eagles and Panthers was moved up one day earlier to create the doubleheader. The move was made to help assist with visiting travel amid the winter storms expected throughout the middle parts of the United States.

Starting at libero, rookie McKenna Young enjoyed some early success to kick off her collegiate career, leading the purple and gold with 32 digs and three service aces. Her 5.33 digs per set ranks her third in the league. Junior setter Ashley Hand totaled 55 assists in Tech's six sets, averaging 9.17 per set.
