EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Defense was the name of the game in the Tennessee Tech soccer team's Friday night OVC clash at SIUE. It took not one, but two overtimes to decide an outcome, and in the end the final read nothing but zeros as the two teams played to a scoreless draw in Tech's second to last road match of the regular season.

The Golden Eagles (6-4-2. 3-1-2) check the tie column for the second time this season, and in the process run the club's unbeaten streak to five consecutive. Tech also breaks a tie with Murray State for the most shutouts in the league with its sixth blanking.

After managing just one shot in the opening stanza, TTU produced seven second-half shots. The Golden Eagles also took five corners in the second period, and with one in the first and two in the second overtime, Tech saw its fair share of opportunities with eight corners in the match.

Each team collected 10 shots. Tina Marolt led the Golden Eagles with three, while Peyton Roehnelt paced SIUE's attack with three shots of her own. The Cougars (5-6-2, 3-2-1) led the shots on-goal battle, 4-2.

Kari Naerdemann registered four saves for her sixth shutout of the season and 24th in her TTU career. Juli Rossi stopped two Tech attempts across the way, a Molly Kafader try in the 72nd minute, and a Karigan Owens drive in the 102nd minute.

SIUE did not attempt a shot on-goal in either overtime.

The Golden Eagles wrap up their road slate Sunday afternoon, playing Eastern Illinois in the final match away from Cookeville in the regular season. First kick with the Panthers is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
