COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Despite an evenly matched game, the TTU women's soccer team is 0-2 in the OVC, suffering their second loss of conference play at the hands of the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles nearly matched the Colonels in every aspect of play on Sunday. Tech took seven shots in the first half of the game, six in the second for a total of 13 to EKU's 16, evenly split across halves. They took three corner kicks overall, allowing four, and even matched the Colonels in saves in the first half with three all.

Eight Golden Eagles combined for the 13 total shots, with freshman Ellie Iaciofano (pictured right) leading the way with three shots to her credit. Kris Cambron, Kerri Reid and Jen Hoffman each contributed two shots apiece on the day.

"I feel like we had good possession and better scoring opportunities, comparitively, in the first half," said head coach Daniel Brizard.

Yet a flat start in the second half cost the team their fifth single-goal loss on the season.

"The second half was the complete opposite," Brizard continued. "We could not connect a pass to our own team and did not play smart, or with an effort level befitting a D-I college soccer team," he admitted.

Seeing her second consecutive start, sophomore goalkeeper Megan Polk played all 90 minutes for Tech, notching three additional saves in the second half to record six on the day. The one stop that she couldn't make came in the 51st minute, when Katie Collar connected a pass with Carly Muller in the Colonel attacking half. Muller netted her third goal of the season from the left side of the goal.

Muller took two shots total on the day, as did five other EKU players, peppering Polk with 12 of their 16 shots on the day. Colonel keeper Stephanie Lynch notched three saves on the day, all coming in the first half of play.

Now sitting with a 2-9 overall record (0-2 OVC) TTU will spend another weekend on the road before returning to Cookeville, taking on Murray State and UT Martin in two afternoon games on Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. and Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. respectively.
