Golden Eagles climb leaderboard to tie for fourth at Chris Banister Fall Classic

GADSDEN, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team made a charge in the third round of the Chris Banister Fall Classic Tuesday afternoon, jumping two spots to tie for fourth place in the event at Silver Lakes Golf Course.

The Golden Eagles fired a third-round 307 – tied for the second-best mark of the day – finishing just two strokes back of Morehead State for third place and tying for fourth among the nine teams participating with UAB with a final score of 930. Murray State claimed the overall team title, finishing with an 898 to beat host Jacksonville State by 10 strokes.

The Gamecocks' Valentina Giraldo took home individual medalist honors after posting her second straight sub-70 round, finishing with a 213 overall.

Junior Hollee Sadler led the Golden Eagles for the tournament, tying for 10th among the 49 participants after continuing her consistent play for the third straight day. Sadler carded a 77-77-76=230 to lead the team back up to a tie for fourth.

Rebounding from a tough second round, sophomore Arianna Clemmer bounced back in a huge way Tuesday, leading all Tech golfers with a 2-over 74 to finish in a tie for 12th overall. The youngster totaled a 231 after a first-round 74 and second-round 83.

Senior Allyson Dunn marked Tech's next finisher on the scoreboard, finishing with a 234 behind rounds of 75, 78, and 81 to tie for 17th overall. Making her collegiate debut, freshman Kate Mashburn fired her best round of the event on Tuesday. Her third-round 77 led to a tie for 23rd behind an overall total of 239.

Rounding out Tech's starting five, sophomore Shelby Johnson tallied a 78-83-80=241 to tie for 30th overall. Competing as an individual, Lindsay Miller posted scores of 81, 83 and 88 for a 252.

The Golden Eagles will return to action Monday morning, taking part in the two-day Starmount Fall Classic. The event's reigning champion, Tech will look to repeat at Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
