Tech women's golf team in seventh after day one of NKU Fall Classic

BATAVIA, Ohio – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team kicked off its 2017-18 campaign with a change to the schedule, making a trip north to Batavia, Ohio for the NKU Fall Classic hosted by Northern Kentucky after Hurricane Irma put a halt on the GolfWeek Program Challenge.

Following the first day of competition, the Golden Eagles ranked seventh among a field of 14 teams battling at Elks Run Golf Club, a par-71, 6,053-yard course. Tech finished with rounds of 315 and 318 over the first 36 holes of play, totaling a score of 633 to sit ahead of Ohio Valley Conference rivals Morehead State, Belmont and Eastern Illinois.

Senior Allyson Dunn led the way for Tech, completing the first day of play with a two-round final of 155. The veteran carded rounds of 75 and 80 to tie for 21st in the field of 82 participants.

Next among Tech's finishers was sophomore Shelby Johnson. She tallied nearly identical scores of 78 and 79 for a 157 to sit in a tie for 23rd. Just one stroke behind her teammate, junior Hollee Sadler completed the first two rounds of action with a 78-80=158.

Rounding out the list of competitors for the Golden Eagles were junior Lindsay Miller and sophomore Arianna Clemmer. Miller tied for 53rd after tallying rounds of 87 and 79 for a 166. Clemmer posted an 84 and an 83 for a 167 to tie for 56th.

The Golden Eagles will look to close out play at the NKU Fall Classic Tuesday morning, with a 7 a.m. CT shotgun start kick off play.
