DICKSON, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up the 2012 season with a sixth place finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship, closing play Tuesday at the GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.

Sophomore Brandy VanEtten was the top finisher on the team, placing 17th overall on the individual leaderboard. Junior Katherine Bell gained some ground Tuesday and finished just four shots back in a tie for 20th place.

VanEtten carded a final round 82 Tuesday, finishing with a 54-hole total of 239 including a 77 Sunday and an 80 Monday. Bell overcame a first round 86 to shoot 80 Monday and improve to 77 Tuesday for a 243 total. Bell's five-over finish Tuesday matched VanEtten's Sunday score as the team's lowest rounds of the tournament.

Sophomore Amber Shepherd was just one shot back of Bell, tied for 22nd place at 244. Her rounds were 84, 79 and 81, with her Monday score being one of just three rounds under 80 for the Golden Eagle.

Junior Amanda Randolph rounded out Tech's scoring, shooting a final 86 Tuesday to finish at 253 and claim 31st place. Tech's fifth golfer, sophomore Katy Beth Glover, withdrew after Sunday's first round due to injury.

Jacksonville State held on to win the team title with a 910 total, a full 13 stroke better than runerup Morehead State (923). Murray State (928) was third, followed by Eastern Kentucky (942), Austin Peay (967), Tennessee Tech (978) and Eastern Illinois (985). Tennessee State did not figure in the team standings since it only had three players competing.
