HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The Tennessee Tech women's golf team was in sixth place after Sunday's opening round of the Chris Banister Classic, being hosted by Jacksonville State at the Hampton Cove Golf Course in Huntsville.

On Monday, Tech spent the day like everyone else -- watching the rain cancel the second round of play.

The final round in the eight-team tournament is set to begin Tuesday at 10 a.m. -- weather permitting.

Junior Amanda Randolph opened with a 76 on Sunday to lead Tech, putting her into a tie for 12th place. Three shots back is Katherine Bell at 79, tied for 17th place. Bell shaved five strokes off her front nine 42 to close with a 37 on the back nine. Sophomore Brandy VanEtten is tied for 28th at 81, followed by sophomore Katy Beth Glover, tied for 36th place at 84, and sophomore Amber Shepherd, in 46th place with a first-round 90.

Also in the field for coach Polk Brown's team, freshman Madi Everts is tied for 43rd place at 88. She is competing as an individual in the tournament, which includes 50 total players.
