Golden Eagles finish seventh at F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate

Glover's 150 is lowest Golden Eagle score

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. — Amber Shepherd shot a second-round 75 to lead Tennessee Tech in closing out the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate Tuesday at The Links at Novadell.

Shepherd's 75 went with a 78 in Monday's first round to give the sophomore from Caryville, Tenn., a combined score of 153 and a tie for 22nd place out of a 64-golfer field. Behind Shepherd's lead, Tennessee Tech finished with a team score of 304-310=614, good enough for a spot in seventh place in the 10-team field.

Katy Beth Glover posted the best score of any Golden Eagle in the event, but her score did not count toward the team total as she was entered as an individual. Glover fired a 74 in the first round and shot 76 in the second for a score of 150.

Katherine Bell was the second-lowest scorer in Tech's lineup, coming in with a first-round 76 followed by a 78 in the second round on Tuesday to finish at 154. Madalyn Everts finished with a score of 75-79=154, Brandy VanEtten came in at 75-80=155 and Amanda Randolph shot 83-78=161.

Murray State claimed the championship with a team score of 584, followed by Jacksonville State in second place at 588 and Eastern Kentucky in third at 599. Austin Peay (603), Belmont (604) rounded out the top five while Western Kentucky (606), Tennessee Tech (614), Lipscomb (628), Evansville (635) and Tennessee State (669) completed the field.

The individual title went to Jacksonville State's Lourdes Lopez, who fired a second-round 66 to go with Monday's 73 and finish at 139.

Tech will take two weeks off before wrapping up its fall season at the UAB Beach Blast in Gulf Shores, Ala., on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
