COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team now knows its next destination as the WNIT announced its bracket on Monday afternoon. The Golden Eagles will be heading to Dallas to take on SMU in the opening round of the tournament.
The game is scheduled for Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.
The Mustangs finished the regular season with a 14-14 record and finished fourth in the American Athletic Conference with a 7-7 league mark. SMU reached the AAC semifinals before falling to UCF.
The Golden Eagles went 20-10 in the regular season, finishing second in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 14-4 record. Tech reached the championship game of the OVC tournament before falling to Belmont in the final.
It is Tech's fifth appearance in the WNIT – 1981, 1986, 2006, 2011 and 2022. The Golden Eagles are 3-6 all-time in the event with victories over Cincinnati, Fresno State and Belmont.
