BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Sophomore Anna Walker had a tremendous week for the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team last week and, through her efforts, she was selected for the Ohio Valley Conference's Newcomer of the Week.
The awards are voted on by the league's sports information contacts.
Walker ended the week with 37 points, averaging 18.5 a night, while shooting .536 from the field, .375 from 3-point range and .667 from the free-throw line. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks across the two games for the week.
In the 78-48 victory over Morehead State on Thursday, Walker finished with 21 points – one shy of tying her career-high – on 9-of-15 shooting, while also collecting six rebounds, four assists and two blocks. On Saturday against Murray State, Walker was Tech's lone double-digit scorer with 16 total points, a rebound and a steal.
The Golden Eagles (7-7, 2-2 OVC) will hit the road this week with contests at Southeast Missouri on Thursday and UT Martin on Saturday.
