Golden Eagle track & field schedule opens Saturday at Music City Invitational

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Three meets in Nashville, plus competition in Indiana, Iowa, Illinois and Alabama, are the events awaiting the Tennessee Tech track & field team during the 2015-16 indoor season that begins this Saturday at the Music City Classic.
              
The indoor season wraps up at the OVC Championships, Feb. 26-27 at Tennessee State University.

The outdoor schedule finds the Golden Eagles in Nashville three times and Knoxville, plus the opportunity for student-athletes who qualify to compete in Florida, California and Oregon.

The Golden Eagle outdoor schedule begins March 25-26 with the Vanderbilt Invitational, and heads toward the OVC Championships, May 13-14, at Tennessee State.

Coach Wayne Angel’s team opens the season this Saturday at the Vanderbilt Indoor Opener, hosted by Vanderbilt. The team then has more than a month away from competition before their next outing, running Jan. 10 at the Ed Temple Invitational at Tennessee State University.

The third meet of the year has the team returning to Nashville on Jan. 16 for the Vanderbilt Invitational. The month of January wraps up when Tech competes in the Gladstein Invitational at the University of Indiana in Bloomington, Jan. 22-23.

Tech runs in the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Feb. 12. Golden Eagles who qualify will compete Feb. 12-13 at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, before wrapping up the indoor events Feb. 26-27 at the OVC Championships.

The outdoor schedules opens March 25-26 at the Vanderbilt Invitational. One week later, qualifying athletes will head to Gainesville, Fla., for the Florida Relays, April 1-2. The Boston Moon Invitational, hosted by Tennessee State, is set for April 8 in Nashville. Another big national meet that will feature any Tech student-athletes who qualify is the Brutus Hamilton Invitational at the University of California in Berkeley, April 22-23.

Tech opens May at the Tennessee Challenge, hosted by the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, May 5-7. One week later is the OVC Outdoor Championships in Nashville, May 13-14.

Qualifiers will advance to the NCAA Preliminary Rounds, May 26-28 at Jacksonville, Fla., with the NCAA Championships set for June 8-11 at Eugene, Ore.
