The Golden Eagles (17-18, 8-10 Ohio Valley Conference) return to action on Wednesday as they host East Tennessee State for a midweek contest with a 5 p.m. start. COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech and UT Martin traded a pair of one-run losses on Saturday as the two teams split the scheduled doubleheader with identical 3-2 results. COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – When Tennessee Tech Softball welcomes UT Martin on April 13-14, it will be a cause of celebration as the Golden Eagle Softball team will recognize the 30th anniversary of the 1994 Ohio Valley Conference championship team between games as part of the Wings Up Weekend festivities on Saturday, April 13. The 1994 Golden Eagle squad earned the inaugural OVC championship, going an unblemished 17-0 in the conference – a feat that has only been matched by the 2016 Jacksonville State team.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Last season, Southeast Missouri cruised to a 20-2 finish in the Ohio Valley Conference softball race. While the start of the 2024 conference campaign has seen the Redhawks a little more level in the race thus far, SEMO is still a very dangerous opponent – after all, historically, Tennessee Tech and Southeast Missouri have been among the top programs since the league first sponsored softball. The Redhawks (13-20) and the Golden Eagles (15-14) will square off Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m., while the third game will be Sunday at noon. COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With as outstanding of a season that Tennessee Tech third baseman Carmen Betts has had, it’s only fitting that she was honored Monday by the Ohio Valley Conference as she shared the league’s Player of the Week award. As the final votes were tabulated, Betts was tied with Morehead State’s Sela Pickford for the honor. The OVC Player and Pitcher of the Week awards are nominated and voted on by the conference’s sports information contacts.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After Lindenwood scored eight runs in the second inning, Tennessee Tech battled back, forcing extra innings as Emily York pitched a gem to keep the Golden Eagles alive. But the visiting Lions took the lead in the top of the eighth inning and Tech couldn’t get the hit it needed to keep the game going, falling 9-8 in eight innings. The Golden Eagles fall to 15-14 overall, 6-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while Lindenwood improves to 17-16, 6-6 in league play.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech knocked the ball out of the park at Betty Basler Field on Wednesday as the Golden Eagles used three home runs to surge to a 7-2 victory over East Tennessee State. Carmen Betts, Abby Buettner and Sydney Kirby all went yard in the contest, with Buettner going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and Kirby going 2-for-3 and driving in two.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 14-11 overall on the season, 6-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Tech has gone 2-1 in each of its first three league series and maintains a solid positioning among the top half of the conference.

MACOMB, Ill. – The Tennessee Tech softball team poured on the offense on Saturday as the Golden Eagles took both ends of the doubleheader at Western Illinois, scoring the go-ahead run in the seventh to take a 12-11 victory in the opener, then topping the Leathernecks 9-4 in the nightcap. On Sunday, the first day of conference competition, the Golden Eagles won their first two league games and claimed the series win over Southern Indiana – a team that finished third in the conference last season. There’s still a long way to go, but it’s one heck of a statement to get the conference race started as the Golden Eagles topped the Screaming Eagles 2-1 and 5-0 to sweep Sunday’s twinbill.

ATLANTA, Ga. – Tennessee Tech earned a split on Saturday in two close games at the Bob Heck Classic in Atlanta as the Golden Eagles took an extra-innings victory over Winthrop, winning 4-3 in the day’s second game. Tech (7-4) dropped the opener 5-3 to Harvard. The Golden Eagles play Harvard again at 8 a.m. Central on Sunday, then take on the host Georgia State Panthers at 1 p.m.
