Golden Eagle softball hosts Eastern Illinois Friday and Saturday
April 03, 2025COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the Ohio Valley Conference tournament in Peoria standing just over a month away, the Tennessee Tech softball team will try to move up in the standings this weekend as the Golden Eagles will host Eastern Illinois for a three-game set on Friday and Saturday. Tech (11-23, 4-8 OVC) currently stands in a tie for seventh in the league standings, sharing the spot with UT Martin and Western Illinois. Eastern Illinois (16-16, 8-3 OVC), meanwhile, is tied for second place with Tennessee State, landing a half-game back from SIUE at 9-3. First pitch in Friday’s double dip is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start. The games will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required) with Dylan Vazzano on the call. -
Harris drives in five as Tech run-rules Bellarmine
April 02, 2025LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tennessee Tech got its offense going in a big way on Wednesday as the Golden Eagles run-ruled Bellarmine 9-1 in six innings. Makayli Harris led the way as she went 3-for-5 at the plate, collecting five RBI in the game. -
Tech Softball moves up EIU series with inclement weather in the forecast
April 02, 2025COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Rainy weather could be expected in Cookeville throughout the week, but with a severe threat looming on Sunday, the Tennessee Tech softball team will move up its Ohio Valley Conference series against Eastern Illinois. The new start time is a 2 p.m. first pitch for a doubleheader on Friday afternoon. The series finale will begin Saturday at 12 p.m. The planned OVC Championship Anniversary recognitions and Putnam County Animal Shelter Food Drive will proceed on these new dates as well. Admission to games at Tech Softball Field are free to the public. -

The game is weather permitting as the forecast in Louisville on Wednesday is primarily windy and overcast, but thunderstorms and high winds are expected to come through Wednesday night. -
Tech Softball goes down to the wire with USI in finale
March 29, 2025EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Tennessee Tech took the lead in the fifth inning and made a case to avoid the sweep, but Southern Indiana tied the game, then walked the game off in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly to take the 4-3 win. The Golden Eagles (10-23, 4-8 Ohio Valley Conference) return to action on Wednesday as they head to Louisville to take on Bellarmine in a single game. Tech returns to the OVC slate next week as it hosts Eastern Illinois on Saturday and Sunday at Tech Softball Field. -
Southern Indiana sweeps Friday doubleheader, Saturday finale moved to 10:30 AM
March 28, 2025EVANSVILLE, Ind. – It was a tough day for the Tennessee Tech softball team as Southern Indiana took both games in Friday’s doubleheader. The Screaming Eagles (8-17, 5-5 Ohio Valley Conference) held the Golden Eagles (10-22, 4-7 OVC) to two hits in game one as USI won 5-1, then the hosts took game two 3-0. -

March 27, 2025EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Ohio Valley Conference chase continues this weekend as the Tennessee Tech softball team heads up to Evansville to take on Southern Indiana for a three-game set. Weather in the forecast has changed the original schedule from a single game Saturday and a Sunday doubleheader into a Friday twinbill and a Saturday single game. The games on both days will begin at noon. With the forecast, the planned broadcasts have been cancelled. -
1995, 2005 and 2015 Tech Softball teams to be recognized next weekend during EIU series
March 27, 2025COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech Softball has seen its share of championship success over the years as three teams will be recognized next weekend during the Golden Eagles’ doubleheader against Eastern Illinois next Saturday. The three teams celebrating anniversaries of their Ohio Valley Conference championships next weekend include the 30th anniversary of the 1995 championship team, the 20th anniversary of the 2005 title team and the 10th anniversary of the 2015 squad. -

March 25, 2025COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Payton Wagner and Addison Abell had great games in the circle for the Tennessee Tech softball team on Tuesday, but Chattanooga was able to put the lone run of the game on the scoreboard to take a 1-0 victory over the Golden Eagles. The single run came across in the top of the third inning as Lexi Cooley, Zoe Wright and Camryn Cernuto collected all three of the Mocs’ hits in a single frame, but all that did was load the bases. Instead, Chattanooga (22-9) scored its run as Olivia Lipari was hit by a pitch, forcing Cooley across the plate. -

Tech softball gets sweep powered by nine-run first inning
March 23, 2025COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech’s offense continued to shine on Sunday as the Golden Eagles completed the three-game sweep over Western Illinois with a 12-3 run-rule victory over the Leathernecks at Tech Softball Field. The win gives Tech (10-19, 4-5 Ohio Valley Conference) its first three-game league sweep for since April 24, 2022, when the Golden Eagles took all three games against Tennessee State. -

March 22, 2025COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The offense came through in a big way for the Tennessee Tech softball team as the Golden Eagles claimed a pair of victories over Western Illinois on Saturday, rallying to tie the day’s first game in the bottom of the seventh, then won in the ninth 5-4. Tech then run-ruled the visitors in game two 14-6. The Golden Eagles (9-19, 3-5 Ohio Valley Conference) will close out the series against the Leathernecks on Sunday. First pitch has been moved up to 11 a.m. with rain in the forecast. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required) with Dylan Vazzano on the call. Tech collected 11 hits in game one and 14 in game two, hitting .439 on the day with Abbee Klinefelter driving in four runs on the day on a 4-for-6 effort, Sydney Kirby collected four hits and Makayli Harris three. Ashley Capelouto also drove in three in the twinbill. -

Tech (6-6) will take on Evansville twice in the event, including a 12:30 p.m. matchup on Friday and a 5:30 p.m. rematch on Saturday, two contests against host Western Kentucky – 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, as well as a single game against Southeastern Conference foe Kentucky. -
Fitzgerald named OVC Pitcher of the Week
February 24, 2025COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Throughout the fall and into the start of the 2025 season, freshman Lainey Fitzgerald has been working hard to find ways to improve and add to her repertoire to become a productive member of the Tennessee Tech softball team. This past weekend at the UNCG Invitational, Fitzgerald got to show off both her pitching and offensive prowess for the Golden Eagles. Through her efforts, she was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference’s Pitcher of the Week on Monday. The OVC weekly honors are nominated and voted on by the athletic communications staffers from each member institution. -
Golden Eagles rally to top Iona to close out UNCG Invitational
February 23, 2025GREENSBORO, N.C. – After striking out 14 on Saturday, Lainey Fitzgerald had another awesome performance on Sunday as she showcased the offensive side of her game, coming through with a clutch home run to even the game against Iona. The Tennessee Tech softball team finished out the game with a 3-2 victory over the Gaels to wrap up its action in the UNCG Invitational. All three of Tech’s runs came in the fifth inning as the Golden Eagles (6-6) rallied from a 2-0 deficit with Sofia Carroll providing the game-winning hit with a double to left center to drive in pinch-runner Bailee Stack.
