Tech Softball takes on exciting slate in 2024

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team will get its 2024 season underway soon and the Golden Eagles are looking for an exciting year under the direction of second-year head coach Danielle Penner.

The slate sees four regular-season tournaments and contests against regional rivals Austin Peay, East Tennessee State and Kennesaw State.

The Golden Eagles open up their season on February 9 and 10 with a trip down to Clinton, S.C., to take on Norfolk State and host Presbyterian in the Blue Hose Invitational. The following week, Tech heads to Baton Rouge, La., to take on host Southern and the University of the Incarnate Word.

It'll be a full weekend of action as the Golden Eagles close out the month of February in Memphis, taking on the host Tigers, as well as DePaul and Indiana State at the Blues City Tournament on Feb. 23-25. Tech's final regular-season tournament will open March up down in Atlanta as it takes on Harvard, Winthrop and host Georgia State at the Panther Invitational.

The Golden Eagles open up Ohio Valley Conference play on March 9-10 as Tech hosts Southern Indiana, then welcomes Rhode Island to Tech Softball Field for a midweek doubleheader on March 12. Tech then heads to Macomb, Ill., to welcome OVC newcomer Western Illinois for a three-game set on March 16-17, which opens up an eight-game road trip.

The voyage continues on March 20 with a single contest at Kennesaw State before heading up to Morehead State for three games on March 23-24 before wrapping up the road trip on March 27 at East Tennessee State for a single game.

Tech returns home on March 29 and 30 as the Golden Eagles welcome in Lindenwood before hitting the road again on April 3 for a midweek contest at Bellarmine, then a three-game series at Southeast Missouri on April 6-7.

The Golden Eagles then open a five-game home stand with a return game from Kennesaw State on April 10, a three-game series against UT Martin on April 13-14 and a midweek appearance from ETSU on April 17.

Tech heads up to Charleston, Ill., to take on Eastern Illinois on April 20-21, then goes to Clarksville on April 24 to take on former OVC rival Austin Peay for a single game on April 24.

The final home games of the season for the Golden Eagles are April 27 and 28 as Tech hosts SIUE for a three-game series, then the Golden Eagles wrap up the regular season with a three-game series in Nashville against Tennessee State.

The 30th OVC Softball Championships will move away from Oxford, Ala., this season and head to Peoria, Ill., on May 8-11 at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex on Petersen Hotels Field.
