Tech softball travels to compete in Chattanooga Challenge

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech's softball team hits the road against as they travel to Chattanooga for their second tournament of the season.

After a tough weekend last week at Georgia Southern's Eagle Round Robin, Tech will compete in the Chattanooga Challenge sponsored by Ruby Falls with a great opportunity to get some momentum going.

Tech's opponents this weekend includes Kennesaw State, host Chattanooga, Radford, UConn and IUPUI.

Kennesaw State opened the season last week with a 3-2 performance at the Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament, posting shutouts over Saint Louis, South Carolina State and Morehead State, while also dropping contests against Austin Peay and an earlier game against the OVC's Eagles.

Chattanooga is 2-3, dropping two games to Liberty and splitting with Morgan State, then closing out with a win over Fairleigh Dickinson in the NTC Tournament in Clermont, Fla.

Radford and UConn's appearances in this weekend's tournament is their first games of the season. Radford finished 35-26 last season, UConn finished 19-33 a year ago.

IUPUI finished 0-5 last week in the Total Control Sports Invitational in Illinois, taking losses to Illinois-Chicago, Loyola of Chicago, Miami (Ohio), Eastern Illinois and Green Bay.

Live stats will be available for the games and live video will also be available from Tech's contest against the Mocs.
