COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After playing a pivotal role in leading the Tennessee Tech softball team to a 4-1 record in the Frost Classic hosted by UT Chattanooga, Golden Eagle sophomore Madison Taylor has been recognized as the College Sports Madness Ohio Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.

Taylor came up in the clutch on numerous occasions over the weekend, recording a huge hit in all four of Tech's victories. The 5-foot-2 outfielder from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning or later in three of the Golden Eagle victories, and was also responsible for driving in the only run of a 1-0 TTU victory on Sunday over Radford.

In total, Taylor hit .294 over the weekend with one home run, a triple, two runs scored, and five runs batted in.

In Friday's opener against Toledo, she broke a 3-3 tie with an RBI single to push the Golden Eagles (5-8) to an eventual 5-3 nod over the Rockets, before coming up big again with a two-run go-ahead knock to break a 4-4 eighth inning deadlock with Ohio in Friday's second tilt. Tech would go on to win 6-5 to snap the Bobcats perfect 8-0 record.

On Saturday against Campbell, Taylor was at it again, this time breaking a 4-4 ninth inning affair with an RBI triple as the Golden Eagles would go on to win 6-5 for their third win of the weekend.

On Sunday, Taylor's first inning long ball was all TTU needed in a 1-0 victory over Radford.

After her Frost Classic heroics, Taylor is now second on the Golden Eagles with a .275 batting average, tied for second with two home runs, and sits atop the Tech stats sheet with eight runs driven in.

Tech will travel to East Carolina for a three-game series with the Pirates beginning on Saturday, with a doubleheader scheduled for 12 and 2 p.m. The set will close out on Sunday with a matchup at 11 a.m.
