Spring 2022 (Sophomore): McDearman took part in all six of the team's spring events, racking up 12 rounds of stroke play and five rounds of match play… produced a spring-best 71 in the second round of the Big Blue Intercollegiate (Apr. 11-12), posting a 146… also tallied a 146 at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (Mar. 14-15)… totaled a 76-73-74=223 at the Orlando Invitational (Feb. 28-Mar. 1)… claimed a match play win of 7&5 over Tennessee State and a clutch HALF against Morehead State to clinch a spot in the Carpenter-Chaney Classic (Apr. 4-5) championship match… helped Tech clinch a spot in the final of the first-ever match play portion of the OVC Championships (Apr. 24-27), defeating his SIUE counterpart 2&1… earned a big 4&3 victory over UT Martin in the OVC Championship final… ended the year with a scoring average of 74.33.

Fall 2021 (Sophomore): McDearman competed in all four of the team’s four fall tournaments, producing 12 rounds of action… opened the season with a career-low 72-70-69=211 at the Golfweek Fall Challenge (Sept. 12-14), earning a top-20 finish… turned in a 71-74-74=219 at the Georgia State Invitational (Oct. 11-12)… delivered a 73-71-76=220 at the Battle at Black Creek (Oct. 25-26)… completed the fall season with a 72.83 scoring average.

Spring 2021 (Freshman): McDearman played in four of Tech’s six events in the spring, totaling 12 rounds of play… made his collegiate debut at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (Mar. 14-16)… shot a season-low 69 in the opening round and finished with a season-best 214 overall to tie for ninth at the event… earned a top-25 finish at the Golfweek Spring Invitational (Apr. 5-6) with a 71-75-71=217… tied for sixth with a 71-75-70=216 at the OVC Championships (Apr. 25-27)… became the first freshman in program history to earn Gilbert Darcy MVP honors… produced the lowest scoring average for a Tech freshman in program history with a 72.42 in the spring, also the lowest average by a Golden Eagle since PGA Tour Pro Scott Stallings posted a 71.29 following his senior season in 2006-07.

Fall 2020 (Freshman): The 2020 fall season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

High School: McDearman was a two-sport athlete at Lebanon High School, lettering four years in golf for head coach Hunter Christian and three years in baseball for head coach Will Wakefield… named team MVP three times while earning four All-District honors and claiming District Medalist honors in 2018… finished as the District runner-up in 2019 and twice finished as the Region runner-up… was a two-time state qualifier as a junior and senior… qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2019… during his senior campaign, turned in a scoring average of 70 and fired a 65 at the 2019 Schooldays Tournament to earn medalist honors… placed first at the Sneds Tour Masters… also made the cut in the 2019 Tennessee State Amateur.

Personal: Son of Kathryn and John McDearman… born December 27, 2001… full name is Mark Anthony McDearman… father, John, played golf at Tech from 1988-92… mother, Kathryn, played tennis at Emory & Henry College in 1989.

Academic: Majoring in finance… named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll four times and to the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll once… recognized as a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar for 2021-22.
