BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech men's basketball sophomore Jr. Clay was named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference Second Team Tuesday afternoon as announced by the league.
An All-OVC Second Team and OVC All-Newcomer Team member last season, the Chattanooga native again claimed postseason honors after leading the Golden Eagles in scoring for the second-straight year. In head coach John Pelphrey's first season at the helm of the program, Clay averaged 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
The point guard's 56 steals led the purple and gold, as did his 78 converted free throws. Overall, Clay shot 41.1 percent from the floor, 32.7 percent from 3-point range and 74.3 percent from the charity stripe.
Clay (121) joined rookie guard Keishawn Davidson (131) to become the first pair of Tech teammates to each record at least 100 assists in the same season since 2001-02. That year, Cameron Crisp dished out 122 dimes while DeAntoine Beasley doled out 104 assists.
The second-year guard also ran off 24-consecutive double-digit scoring efforts to conclude the 2019-20 campaign, the fifth-longest such streak by a Golden Eagle since 1984-85.
