BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference announced on Friday its 291 recipients of the OVC Academic Medal of Honor for the 2022-23 academic year. Tennessee Tech had 24 student-athletes among the list.
The OVC Academic Medal of Honor is given annually to the student-athletes who achieve the highest grade point average in a conference-sponsored sport. Every Academic Medal of Honor recipient for the 2022-23 academic year carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
The 24 recipients in 2022-23 ties the second-most medals the Golden Eagles have received in a single year, tying the 2007-08 mark. Tech's single-year best came in 2020-21 as the Golden Eagles claimed 29 medals.
The winners from Tech included:

BEACH VOLLEYBALL: Katie DiRaimondo*, Jordan Karlen*, McKenna Young*;
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: Carter Bradford, Austin McCowan;
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: Amanda Laboy*, Maddie Long*, Ruby Wyles*;
MEN'S GOLF: Bryce Beeler;
WOMEN'S GOLF: Sydney Branson;
WOMEN'S SOCCER: Selma Askildsen, Emily Carlevato, Macy Carter, Maggie Conrad, Allison Lee, Katie Toney, Yao Giada Zhou;
SOFTBALL: Haeli Bryson, Jordan Key, Nicolle Nysted, Callie Piper;
WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD: Anya Akili, Amanda Laboy*, Maddie Long*, Ruby Wyles*;
VOLLEYBALL: Katie DiRaimondo*, Jordan Karlen* and McKenna Young*.
Across the OVC, women's track and field had the most honorees with 49, followed by women's soccer (46) and softball (29). Of the 291 honorees selected, 51 were awarded medals in multiple sports and were counted just once in the overall tally. In the last five years, 1,500 student-athletes have won the OVC Academic Medal of Honor.
The conference will announce the honorees on the Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Academic Achievement Award and the Team Academic Achievement Awards next week.
