COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As the Tennessee Tech athletic teams continued to excel in the fields of competition, the Golden Eagle student-athletes also continued to reach new heights academically as 202 student-athletes, managers, athletic trainers and spirit squad members were named to the Spring 2017 edition of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Among those students on the Spring roll call, 43 were named to the Gold Club, earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average. The record stands at 56 in the Fall of 2016.

"It continues to be a remarkable feat for our student-athletes to achieve such a high level of success, and they've done it for so many semesters," said Tech Director of Athletics Mark Wilson. "The Honor Roll recognizes these young women and men, and helps us to congratulate them on a job well done."

The tally marks the 13th time in the last 16 semesters that the number of student-athletes on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll surpassed 200. Tech's student-athletes had 221 on the roll in Fall 2016 and a record-high 236 in Fall 2013.

"These impressive numbers are a tribute to our student-athletes, our coaches and our staff for making academics such a high priority," Wilson said. "Not only are these results something to be proud of, it's especially gratifying that it happens on such a consistent basis. It is remarkable, but it has become a level of performance that we have come to expect. Our student-athletes also have come to expect such an impressive result from themselves and their peers.

"That level of success has become an enduring legacy that each incoming class can strive to attain, and our Athletics Department will continue to work to achieve."

Wilson continued, "Everyone throughout the campus community, especially those of us within the Athletics Department, should be extremely proud of the student-athletes at Tennessee Tech as they continue to set high standards in the classroom. They are students in the truest sense of the word."

The members of the Gold Club are highlighted in bold under their respective programs.
