Tennis hosts both Belmont, Tennessee State in weekend matches

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team returns home for the first two games of a five-game home-stand, hosting Belmont on Friday, and Tennessee State Saturday. Both matches will be held at 12 p.m.

Tech returns to action after a match at No. 23 Louisville on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Eagles fought hard against the ranked opponent, but ultimately fell 6-1. Freshman Eduardo Mena earned the Golden Eagles only point, moving to 11-4 in singles match.

SETTING THE STAGE

The Golden Eagles currently have a 1-1 record in Ohio Valley Conference play, after falling to Eastern Kentucky, and topping Morehead State

Belmont comes in with a 6-7 record, and a 1-2 OVC win. The Bruins topped SIU Edwardsville in a home match, while falling at EKU and Morehead. Over the time Tech and Belmont have matched up, the Golden Eagles have a 12-8 advantage. However, the Bruins have won the last two matches.

Tennessee State has yet to find themselves on the right side of a match yet, with a 0-8 record. The Tigers also are currently 0-4 in conference play, falling to EIU, SIUE, EKU, and Morehead. Tech holds a 27-0 record against TSU all-time.
