Arovin earns adidas® OVC Tennis Athlete of the Week honor

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech tennis junior Alex Arovin was named the adidas® OVC Tennis Athlete of the Week, as named by the Ohio Valley Conference, for the first time of his career on Tuesday morning.

Arovin went 2-0 at the No. 1 singles spot last week and also picked up a doubles victory to help the Golden Eagles earn a share of the OVC regular-season title. He won at Murray State, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and also earned the doubles win against the Racers. At Austin Peay, Arovin won, 6-4, 6-4 singles play.

Arovin finished the regular season on a five-match winning streak, and finished OVC play, 6-2.

The Donetsk, Ukraine native shared the weekly honor with Eastern Kentucky sophomore Sebastian Mueller.

The Golden Eagles head into the Ohio Valley Conference tournament that will be held this weekend, April 17-19 as the No. 2 seed and will have a first-round bye. As the No. 2 seed, the Golden Eagles will start on Saturday, facing the winner of the No. 3 and No. 6 match. Matches will be held at the Centennial Sportsplex Tennis Center in Nashville.
