CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team wrapped up play at the 32nd UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Sunday.

Alvaro Cintas led the Golden Eagles on the weekend as he finished runner-up in the Flight 3 bracket. Cintas defeated UTC's Austin Boaz in the opening round, 7-6 (5), 6-1. He then faced Diago Asis from Eastern Kentucky, who he down 7-6 (6), 6-2. Cintas' next opponent hailed from Jacksonville State. It took three games, but Cintas again was victorious, winning 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-0, and headed to the championship game. In the Fight 3 championship game, Cintas took on another Ohio Valley Conference opponent in Bruno Russo from Belmont. Russo bested Cintas in the championship match, 6-4, 7-5.

Othon Lima and Artem Tarasov joined Cintas in Flight 3. Lima took on Sunay Bhat from the University of Tennessee where he was downed 6-4, 6-4. Lima then went to the Flight 3 consolation bracket where he faced Alberto Tintore from EKU. Lima topped Tintore 1-6, 6-1, (10-5), before falling to UTC's Gino Delavalle, 6-2, 3-6 (11-9). Tarasov lost in the opening round of Flight 3 to Lipscomb's Thais Minet, 6-1, 6-2. In the consolation bracket, Tarasov lost to Delavalle, 6-2, 7-6 (5) in the first round of consolation.

Yusuke Yodono lost in the opening round of Flight 4 to Lipscomb's Carson Panovec, 6-4, 6-4. He then went on to the consolation round, where he faced UTC's Mason Grear, winning 6-3, 4-2, before Grear retired from the match from an injury. Yodono matched up with Austin McCormick from Jax State in the Flight 4 consolation match. McCormick bested Yodono 3-6, 6-3, 1-0.

Stanslav Smirnov went 0-2 on the weekend, losing the opening round to John Peacey of UTC, 6-3, 6-4. In the Flight 2 consolation bracket, Smirnov faced Daniel Hernandez of Lipscomb, 6-1, 6-2. Carlos Tejas was also in Flight 2, and he lost the opening round to Will True of Murray State, 6-2, 6-1. In the consolation round he received a bye, before facing Matheus Chaim of JSU. Chaim bested Tejas, 7-6 (4), 6-2.

In doubles play, Tarasov paired up with freshman Stanislav Smirnov as they took on John Peacey and Nic Wilson from UTC. The pair of Mocs downed the Golden Eagles, 8-3. In the Flight 1 consolation of the doubles matches, Tarasov and Smirnov took on David Hess and Max Mclean in the first match of consolation, the Golden Eagles took down the Racers 8-2. They went on to face Jarryd Reese and Pedro Wagner from JSU in the consolation championship game. The Golden Eagles got the upper hand, winning 8-6.

In Flight 2 of doubles play Carlos Tejas and Lima paired, winning their opening round game over Tennessee State's Darryl Hale and Joesph Daniels by withdrawal. They then faced a Belmont/EKU duo in Hans Nardelli from Belmont and Daridge Saidi from EKU. The dual school pair topped the Golden Eagles 8-7 (6).
