HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The first round of spring play is finally in the books for the Tennessee Tech men's golf team, as the Golden Eagles concluded round one of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Monday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles wrapped up the first day of action after firing a round of 315. Monday's second round was suspended because of darkness with golfers having between three and five holes left to play. Play will resume at 10 a.m. CST on Tuesday morning with hopes of completing round two and then playing and competing round three.

The top performer of the day for the Tech squad was senior Lee Whitehead. The wiley veteran finished the day tied for 11th overall, totaling a first-round score of 73.

Junior Mitch Thomas followed Whitehead, tallying a 79 to tie for 60th on the day. True freshman Alexander Riddle ranked next for the Golden Eagle squad, wrapping up his first spring tournament with an 81.

Just one stroke back of Riddle was teammate Mason Griffin. The senior carded a first-round 82, tying for 77th overall. The Golden Eagles were rounded out by sophomore Bryce Kendrick, who finished the first round of the tournament with an 83.
