COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Past met present Friday evening as former Tennessee Tech men's golfer Ryan Greer, sporting the current Golden Eagles' bucket hat given to him by head coach Polk Brown, took home the Tennessee Mid-Amateur championship.

Firing home a 1-under-par 71 in the final round, Greer collected his first TGA title after defeating Kevin Watford in a sudden-death playoff. The victory was the first for Greer, who also had a runner-up finish in a TGA event earlier in his career.

A four-year member of the Tech team from 2000-2004, Greer played under legendary Golden Eagle head coach Bobby Nichols, serving as the the only senior on the 2003-04 squad. Throughout his career, he took home five all-tournament honors and was named to the 2003 all-OVC team.

The Tennessee Tech men's golf team will kick off the 2014-15 season on Monday, Sept. 8 at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate hosted by Southern Miss. The women's team will begin its 2014-15 campaign on the same day, taking part in the MSU Drake Creek Invitational hosted by Murray State.
