Camden Wentz joins Golden Eagle football coaching staff to direct tight ends

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech football coach Marcus Satterfield has added Camden Wentz to his Golden Eagle coaching staff. Wentz, who will coach Tech’s tight ends, just completed his second season as an offensive graduate assistant at Purdue University.

“Cam Wentz brings a tremendous amount of knowledge of the tight end and offensive line to this coaching position, and a great deal of experience both as a player and a coach,” said Satterfield about his newest staff member. “With the tremendous toughness he has shown as an outstanding collegiate player, he will fit very well into our program and our staff.”

Wentz was a four-year letterwinner at North Carolina State where he played center for the Wolfpack. He started 39 consecutive games and was named All-ACC twice during his playing career. He was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list three times, an honor that goes to the nation’s top collegiate center. He started every game in the Wolfpack offensive line from 2010 through 2012, snapping the ball to current Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and current Tampa Bay quarterback Mike Glennon. In three seasons, he allowed only one sack in more than 2,000 snaps.

Wentz then signed as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in 2013, and spent the summer attending various team camps with the NFL franchise where he learned from all-Pro center John Sullivan and played under offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave and offensive line coach Jeff Davidson.

His coaching career began in March 2014 when he accepted a graduate assistant position at Purdue. IN two seasons with the Boilermakers, Wentz worked with opponent films, assisted in the offensive game plan preparation, assisted the offensive line coach, and coached the entire defensive scout team. He also assisted in recruiting and player development.

A native of Marietta, Georgia, he graduated from N.C. State in December 2012 with a degree in sports management. He added his master’s in sport management from Purdue in 2015.
