NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Tiffany Palmer earned first-team
all-OVC honors with a seventh place individual finish at the 2009
Ohio Valley Conference championships Saturday morning, pacing the
Tennessee Tech women’s team to a seventh place finish at
Percy Warner Park.
Palmer covered the 5K course in 20:22.61 to place seventh, the
highest finish at the OVC meet in her career.
The Eastern Kentucky women won the team title with 32 points,
placing three runners in the top four led by Picoty Leitich in
19:29.05. Murray State 63) placed second in the team standing,
followed by Eastern Illinois (65), Southeast Missouri (104),
Jacksonville State (145), Morehead State 166), Tech and UT Martin
(187), Austin Peay (239) and Tennessee State (304).
Sophomore Traci Jones was the second Golden Eagle to cross the
finish line, running the race in 21:47.34 to place 36th. Senior
Amanda Simmons (22:21.56) was 43rd, followed by freshman Kathryn
Forbes (23:04.52) in 51st place, freshman Courtney Koehl (24:04.74)
in 60th, senior Sarah Kmet (26:05.19) in 65th, and sophomore Mary
Beth Norris (28:10.78) in 71st place.
