Men's cross country finishes sixth, women eighth at Evansville Invitational

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Tiffany Palmer ran the women's 5K race in 19:27.14 to finish in eighth place at the Evnasville Invitational Saturday as the Tennessee Tech women's cross country team took home an eighth place overall finish. The men's team was led by Peter Woerner, who ran the 8K race in 27:00.53 on his way to a 13th place overall finish.

On the men's side, Ben Shassere finished in 27:09.85 for a 20th place finish, Sam Taylor finished in 27:14.33, Jarrad Read finished in 27:22.85 and Joseph DeLorenzo finished in 27:35.46 as the Golden Eagles earned a sixth place team finish in the event.

In the women's 5K event Traci Jones was the second Golden Eagle to finish, running the course in 21:24.00. Kathryn Forbes checked in with a time of 22:01.78, Courtney Koehl finished in 22:38.08 and Mary Beth Norris had a time of 26:39.10.

Marshall won the men's team event, followed by Marion, Eastern Illinois, Southeast Missouri, and host Evansville. Murray State claimed first place in the women's event, followed by Eastern Illinois, Belmont, Southeast Missouri and Evansville.

The Golden Eagles will compete again in two weeks when they head to the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Oct. 31 in Nashville. The NCAA Regional will be held on Nov. 14 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
