A look at Tennessee Tech

Tech (1-0-0) kicked off the season on a high note after opening the year by blanking Austin Peay in a 1-0 road win in Clarksville on Mar. 2. Freshman Meredith Nye collected her first collegiate score with a 32nd minute header off a Sarah Block corner for Block's first career assist.

Defensively, TTU impressed by allowing just one shot on-goal and only seven total attempts. Senior Isabelle Austin carded her fourth career shutout, needing just one stop throughout the course of the afternoon.

Five Golden Eagles played all 90 minutes, with Austin, Selma Askildsen, Emily Carlevato, Macy Carter and Nye all going the distance.

Tech enjoyed its open date on Friday and is one of five teams in the OVC with an unblemished record early in the season. SEMO is also 1-0, while Murray State, SIUE and UT Martin are all 2-0.

A look at Morehead State

The Eagles (0-2-0) opened the year with back-to-back losses, first falling 3-1 at home to Murray State on Mar. 2 and then dropping a 1-0, double-overtime affair at Eastern Illinois on Mar. 5. Redshirt sophomore Colleen Swift has the club's lone goal this year thanks to a 63rd-minute net finder in the tilt with Murray. Freshman Sidney Palla earned the assist on the score.

Morehead produced 10 shots in the contest with the Racers, five of which were on-goal. The Eagles outshot Eastern Illinois in Friday's loss behind a 13-10 discrepancy. Sophomore Kate Larbes leads the squad with five shots in two matches, three of which have been on-point.

Junior Michelle Jerantowski is the only Eagle to appear between the pipes this year and has allowed four goals to go along with nine saves in the club's two matches. The Lemont, Ill. product is a transfer from Jacksonville University, where she appeared in five matches in 2019, yielding 10 goals and making 35 stops during her sophomore campaign with the Dolphins.

Morehead tallied a 4-12-2 overall record in 2019, going 2-6-2 in conference play to miss the OVC Tournament.

Inside the series

Tech leads the all-time series, 11-9-4. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in the last meeting on Sept. 20, 2019 in Cookeville. The Eagles claimed the last matchup in Morehead with a 2-0 nod on Oct. 12, 2018.
