COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech soccer team added on to its fall 2021 roster, as head coach Steve Springthorpe and the Golden Eagles announced the signing of Addison Johnson to help bolster the purple and gold's squad.

Johnson, a 5-foot-6 goalkeeper out of Thompson's Station, Tenn., will enter the Tech ranks as incoming freshman in the fall of 2021.

"We are excited that Addison has decided to join our team for this upcoming fall," TTU head coach Steve Springthorpe said. "As we continue to build our team for the 2021 season, we saw the need of adding another goalkeeper who can compete for playing time. With the addition of Addison, we feel like we will have a great group of keepers that will train and be ready to compete for that starting position."

While at Summit High School in Spring Hill, Tenn., Johnson compiled a star-studded resume between the pipes that featured a series of impressive accolades earned throughout her prep tenure. A two-time TSSAA District 12-AAA Goalkeeper of the Year, Johnson was named to the All-District team all four years in high school and secured a spot on the THSSCA Girls Soccer All-State team as a senior.

Johnson's statistical highlights include 109 saves as a sophomore and an eye-popping 171 stops in her junior season. The incoming Tech freshman also enjoyed a successful club career in which Johnson helped lead her team to a 2016 Southern Regional League championship and a 2017 TSSA Division I State title.

"We will need to replace our starting keeper, who will graduate this spring, and we are confident that Addison will be part of a group of keepers that has the potential to continue the line of success that we've had in that position, "Springthorpe noted. "We are looking forward to her joining our team in August."

Off the pitch, Johnson is a member of the National Honor Society and was the president of the Society of Woman Engineers.
