COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech Women's Basketball continues to add to their arsenal for the 2024-2025 campaign and the latest addition will bring an international flair. Head Coach Kim Rosamond announced the addition of Angelika Girgenson, a dynamic point guard hailing from the Netherlands, to the Golden Eagle roster on Thursday.
Girgenson, known for her swagger and confidence on the court, brings a wealth of experience from her time with the 3x3 U17 Dutch National Team during the summer of 2022. She has also honed her talents over two years at the prestigious Orange Lions Academy, where she developed into a well-rounded and formidable player under the tutelage of coach Molly McDowell, who played at Southern Illinois.
In her previous seasons, Girgenson showcased her versatility and consistency, averaging 10 points per game, four rebounds per game and three assists per game while shooting 42 percent from the floor, making her a consistent and reliable offensive threat.
"Angelika's addition to our team is incredibly exciting," said Rosamond. "Her international experience and the confidence she brings to the court will be invaluable. She has played and been successful at a high level, and I believe her upside is tremendous. She is a playmaking guard who can score but also create for others, and she is ultra-competitive. Ang values academics, wants to win championships, and strives to be the best she can on and off the court."
The Golden Eagles return four starters from last season and will look to continue to build on their run of six consecutive winning seasons and six consecutive years of double-digit OVC wins as well as striving to add to the collection of championship banners in the Hooper Eblen Center rafters. Girgenson's leadership, skill set, and competitive spirit align perfectly with the team's goals and aspirations.
The addition of Girgenson to the Tennessee Tech Women's Basketball family bolsters a tremendous class for the 2024-25 campaign, which includes incoming freshmen Chloe Larry (Parkway [Louisiana]), Maddie Newman (Gatlinburg-Pittman) and Amelia Pfeiffer (Alcoa), in addition to transfers Keely Carter (Trevecca), Maddy Saracco (Southern Illinois) and Taris Thornton (Eastern Illinois).
