MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Stephanie Place earned a
second-place finish in the 3,000-meter run and Keri Light placed
sixth in the mile at the Valentine’s Invitational Saturday at
Middle Tennessee State University.
The two seniors were the only members of the Tech women’s
track & field team to compete in the event.
“Keri missed our first meet due to an academic committment,
so I wanted to get her into another meet before conference,”
said TTU coach Tony Cox. “I talked Stephanie into doing a
race , also. She would rather race than do the workout that was
scheduled for Saturday.”
Place earned a time of 10:52.86 in the 3,000-meter run, finishing
second to MTSU’s Zamzam Sangau.
In the mile, Light finished in 5:12.94 to place sixth, just five
seconds off the lead and six seconds short of the school
