COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Something special will be a brewing during Saturday's Tennessee Tech softball doubleheader, as three former Golden Eagle greats will take their place in Tech lore.

In between games of the twin bill against Southeast Missouri, Kacy Bennett (2002-05), Stephanie Fischer (2005-08), and Beth Boden (2005-08) will be added to the Wall of Honor just behind the center field fence, giving recognition to the trio's outstanding careers and flashing back to an era of historic proportions in Tech softball.

A four-time All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree, Kacy Bennett established herself as an offensive juggernaut during those great Tech teams of the early to mid-2000's. With Kacy at the bat, the Golden Eagles captured both a pair of OVC Tournament Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances during the Huntingdon, Tenn. native's tenure that lasted from 2002-2005.

At the time of her departure, Bennett's 28 career home runs and 136 career RBI were good enough for second on the all-time Tech list, while Bennett's 258 career hits put her in third on the Golden Eagle ranks at the time of her graduation.

It would be hard pressed to find a better Golden Eagle tandem with the lumber than the dynamic duo of Stephanie Fischer and Beth Boden. Not only did the pair lead the Golden Eagles to three OVC Tournament Championships, three NCAA Tournament appearances, and two 50-win seasons in four years with the program, but Fischer and Boden defined what it means to leave a lasting impression.

Still to this day, the two rank one and two in Tennessee Tech career home runs, with Boden slugging 51 during her TTU tenure and Fischer smacking 45 in her time as a Golden Eagle. Boden is also the Tech career leader with 191 runs scored, while Fischer is tops in program history with 56 doubles and 171 RBI.

Of all the accolades, which include each taking home OVC Player of the Year awards and All-Region selections, the most impressive honor might very well be the fact that both Boden and Fischer led the nation in home runs in back-to-back seasons.

Boden's 25 round trippers during the 2007 season beat out Amber Jackson of Maryland for the most in the country, while Fischer's 27 was the nation's gold standard in 2008. Fischer was also the NCAA's leader with an eye-popping 1.019 slugging percentage.

Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m. CT. Admission to all Golden Eagle home regular season games is free.
