EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Tennessee Tech cross country will open the championship season this Saturday as they compete in the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in Edwardsville, Illinois hosted on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
A Look Back
The Golden Eagles last raced in the Murray State Open, claiming a pair of top-place finishes. Junior Ababu Mohamed led the men's field with a first-place finish, clocking in a time of 26:12.9, while freshman Nancy Jesang earned the first-place finish for Tech's women's team as she crossed with a time of 19:00.1.
The Field
On the men's side, the Golden Eagles will feature Hannes Vohn, Sam Eastin, Benard Sigei, Ababu Mohamed, and Gabriel Kiprono. The women's team will consist of Nancy Jesang, Rahab Sawe, Sharon Chepkemboi, Alexa Brugere, Tieara Norman, Courtney McCowan, and Madeline Watts.
Running for Anna Cooper
The Golden Eagles are wearing a purple ribbon in each of their races this season to celebrate the memory of former Golden Eagle Anna Cooper, who passed away from a battle with cancer in June. The purple color is used to represent rare forms of cancer.
