And the British Open makes four. Former Tennessee Tech
All-American Scott Stallings will tee off Thursday in the 2013
British Open, making it his fourth Major championship in the first
three years of his PGA career.
The event is being held at Muirfield in Scotland. Stallings is
scheduled to tee off at 7:27 a.m. Thursday, paired with Stewart
Cink and Richard McEvoy. British time is six hours ahead of Central
Time, meaning he will hit his initial shot at 1:27 a.m. local
time.
Stallings (@stallingsgolf) secured his
place in the 2013 Open when the Scottish Open was won by Phil
Mickelson who was already exempt. As Stallings was the first
non-exempt player on the Reserve List he joined the field of 154
golfers. He has two wins on the PGA Tour, the 2011 Greenbrier
Classic and the 2012 True South Classic.
Stallings was named OVC Golfer of the Year in 2006 and 2007 and placed 30th at the 2006 NCAA Championship. He currently ranks 27th in the FedEx Cup standings and has earned $1.55 million dollars this year on the PGA Tour.
He has played in the 2011 and 2012 PGA Championships, the 2012 Masters, and the 2013 U.S. Open. The 2013 PGA Championship also lies ahead.
