COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The final piece to the early signing period puzzle has been put in place for the Tennessee Tech men's basketball team as the Golden Eagles announced the signing of Motlow State Community College point guard Stephaun Adams.

Adams joins Miles Thomas of South Doyle High School and Colton Blevins of York Institute as the newest additions to the Golden Eagle program for the 2016-17 season.

"Stephaun is just a tough guy and a great competitor," head coach Steve Payne explained. "He's very quick, a good shooter and possesses a very high basketball IQ. I expect him to come in and be guy that is on the floor for Tennessee Tech for his entire career. He has to come in and prove that when he gets here, but every indication we get about him is that he will be a perfect fit for the way we play and the kind of young man we want for our program."

In his freshman season playing for MSCC, Adams is averaging over seven points, nearly five rebounds, over six assists and just under three steals per game. He is shooting over 40 percent from beyond the arc and a even clip of 70 percent from the charity stripe.

In his most recent contest, Adams dropped a season-high 22 points while also dishing out five assists, hauling in five rebounds and making four steals. Earlier in the season he posted back-to-back games with 10 or more dimes, posting a total of 10 steals and 15 rebounds in the two contests as well.

Adams on why he chose Tech:
I'm the type of guy that always wants to surround myself with great people, and the coaching staff and team at Tennessee Tech are filled with fantastic individuals that I know will help me exceed my expectations as a player. I think everyone there is very sociable and respectful and I know I'll be able to fit right in.

Adams on what he hopes to bring to the table next season:
I plan to bring my winning attitude. I have always tried to be that guy that does whatever it takes to help his team be victorious both on and off the court. I think my greatest skill is my ability to mesh with the four guys on the court with me and I see that continuing at Tennessee Tech.

Adams on what he's looking forward to most in his first year at Tech:
Playing Division I basketball has been a dream of mine for quite some time now. I'm just really looking forward to the experience and everything that comes with it!

Motlow State Community College head coach J.T. Burton on Adams:
First of all, I'm just really glad for him. Stephaun is the type of kid that is very coachable and has an extremely high basketball IQ. Coaching him is like having another coach on the court and it's just been a real blessing to have him here.

He does need to become more consistent with his 3-point shot and his jump shot. He needs to get stronger physically. But beyond that, he possesses all of the tools to be an All-Conference guy as a sophomore coming in.

As a person, he's a student first, and very good one at that. He takes his academics very seriously and he's very respectful young man. As a player, he's a pure point guard. Stephaun is the type of player that does everything his coach asks of him both on and off the court and he's just an extension of the head coach on the court.
