MURRAY, Ky. - Two rounds through its first action in two weeks, the Tennessee Tech men's golf team has already experienced a load of ups and downs at the Miller Memorial Invitational.

The Golden Eagles, who looked comfortable with a fourth place finish after the first round of play on Monday, will now have some work ahead of itself after falling to eighth after wrapping up the second round late in the afternoon.

Tech still has plenty of room to move up in the tournament, sitting within a few birdies of several Ohio Valley Conference programs.

Sophomore Mitch Thomas has been the bright spot for the Tech squad, sitting in fourth place overall after posting a season-low 69 in Round One and a very respectable 72 in the second round for a total of 141. His first-round score marks the first sub-70 round of the year for Thomas, and the best for any Golden Eagle on the day.

Lee Whitehead, who lead the Golden Eagles in the first tournament of the year, was very consistent on the first day of play, shooting back-to-back 75's for a 150 total. The rest of his teammates are hot on his trail as Mason Griffin, playing in just his second event in two years after redshirting last year with an injury, carded a 73-78=151.

Sophomores Adam Cunningham and Bryce Kendrick followed suit, each putting together scores of 152 on the day, in nearly identicle fashion. Cunningham wrapped up the day with a 74-78=152 while Kendrick finished 73-79=152.

Also competing in the event for the Tech as an individual is Maxx Verble. The junior finished the day with a 79-76=155 to fall just three strokes shy of his teammates.

Tech will wrap up play on the par-71, 6,592-foot Miller Memorial Golf Course on Tuesday morning.
