COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Following the release of the 2013 fall schedule by head coach Polk Brown, it's apparent that the Tennessee Tech men's golf team will be racking up the miles this fall, competing in five tournaments hosted by schools in five different states over three months.

"We've got two tournaments hosted by OVC schools," Brown said, "and then we have three other tournaments that are outside our conference. We try to always have a healthy mix of differnt events."

Leading off the season will be a trip to Hattiesburg, Miss., as the Golden Eagles take part in the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, Sept. 9-10. The tournament, hosted by another Golden Eagle squad in Southern Miss, takes place at nearly 100-year old Hattiesburg Country Club.

"We're looking forward to our first event," Brown said. "Right away, we are heading down to Southern Miss. It will be good to play in a tournament of that caliber."

Next on tap for the men's team is a tournament hosted by Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State. On Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, Tech will take part in the Murray State Invitational at Miller Memorial Golf Course.

"We're really looking forward to going back to Murray after not going last year," Brown said. "We always enjoy going up there and there's alway good competition there."

Also on the schedule this fall is a trip north to the Bearcat Invitational on Oct. 7-8, hosted by Cincinnati. Held at the Paris Traditions Golf Course, this tournament will provide stiff competition from all over the country.

"We tried really hard to get into that event and we were lucky enough for them to give us a spot," Brown said. "I've heard that golf course is very good and we're looking forward to competing up there."

Wrapping up October is a familar tournament for the Golden Eagles as they compete in the APSU F&M Bank Intercollegiate for the fifth straight year. Played on the Links at Novadell, Oct. 14-15, in Hopkinsville, Ky., the tournament will be hosted by the OVC Champion Austin Peay Governors.

"Austin Peay's event is always very good," Brown said. "They're the defending OVC champs and we want to play them as much as we can. They're a very good team.

The final event of the fall schedule is a tournament in North Carolina. The Hummingbird Intercollegiate, hosted by Western Carolina, Nov. 3-5. It marks the first time since 2011 that the Golden Eagles will play in the month of November.

"We have been to the Hummingbird Intercollegiate before," Brown said. "It's at one of the nicest courses I've ever been to, and it will be a great way to end the fall season."

"We have a good group of guys coming back for this year," Brown added. "I'm excited to see what we can do. I think we can be very competivie this season and and put ourselves in position to win right away."
